Church Day 2018
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” – Ecc 4:9-10
Church Day 2018, organised by Youth Hope (the youth ministry arm of Great Glory Church) was a celebration of community and a fete for fellowship. Youths and young adults gathered in high spirits to enjoy each other’s company (and a little friendly competition) through an exciting series of sports and relay challenges.
We kicked off the day with a fiery cheer competition that seemed to prove how far enthusiasm could take our voices. Although our throats felt dry, our hearts were certainly refreshed with the zestful spirit of camaraderie. Later, church members also broke into teams to compete in a variety of relay games. It was uplifting to see each team vying passionately for victory, and heartening to see them spurring each other on.

Perhaps the climax of the day was our friendly Soccer Tournament which was the most intense sport of the day. This was especially memorable for many girls who were completely new to the sport! Still, with the invigorating shouts of support from church members, everyone outshone themselves and impressed many, including themselves.
Regardless of the score, everyone that day went home a winner. We believe that sport and competition is not a mere gladiator’s battle or spectacle to prove one man better than another, but its true meaning is to give Glory to God through doing our very best, and to strengthen bonds and ties between brothers and sisters in Christ.

Games aside, our families also prepared an appetizing spread of finger food, drinks and fruits to re-energise us from the activities. We are truly blessed to have such amazing and caring families!
A house divided against itself cannot stand, and we praise God that this event has strengthened our foundation of family here at Great Glory Church. Overall, it was a great occasion for all of us to let loose and have fun, and an even greater opportunity to bond and forge deeper ties with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We look to a future where we can continue growing together, learning from one another and loving our Lord with united hearts!
